The Dixie Chicks reap what they sow
I found this story on the front page of Reddit.com. The irony here is incredible. The Female Country Band, the "Dixie Chicks" have an article on their MSN web site:
The story of the mother who taught her child to hate a perfect strangerI'll mercifully spare you from having to read the whole thing which is sappy beyond belief, and an obvious publicity statement to draw more sympathy to the "victimized" band (which was also the entire theme of their film "Shut up and Sing"). Essentially, one anonymous woman was caught on video holding her young son, protesting the band's political statements on Bush and Iraq, and smashing their Cd's. Somehow this greatly upset Natalie Maines, the band's lead singer:
On the afternoon of May 5, 2003, Andrea S. was stomping on Dixie Chicks CDs and instructing her 2-year-old son to say, “Screw the Chicks!”
Unbeknownst to her at the time, her life changed forever at that moment — and so did the lives of the Dixie Chicks.
“That just made me bawl because I just witnessed someone learn[ing] to hate and I didn't know that kind of hatred existed.”OK, so the Dixie Chicks are sensitive women. What is the problem? Read on...
In other interviews, the Chicks stated that the darkest moment of the controversy was watching Andrea teach her son to hate. They felt it was worse than receiving a death threat.
The problem is that Natalie Maines, the lead singer, is the same woman who publicly said she was ashamed of the President of the United States, that President Bush is a "dumb F**k", and publicly wore a T-Shirt with the letters "FUTK", which stood for "F**k you Toby Keith", a reference to a rival country singer.
So where did Andrea learn to hate? Maybe from the Chicks themselves. The pot calls the kettle black because she has no reflection to see herself.

She didn't say she hated him, she said she was ashamed of him being from Texas, very different thing. And she was right, are you one of the few that still believes in this war?
And the FUTK shirt was in RESPONSE to Toby displaying a huge doctored photo of Natalie with Saddam at his concerts (she was actually with her husband who was removed from the photo). I think you would be pissed about that too. She never said she hated Toby.
I can't believe your still full of hatred for the Dixie Chicks, get over yourself and get a life. You may not have noticed but the rest of America has realised that NATALIE WAS RIGHT!
Right on. The Dixie Chicks had the guts to go against the grain and speak their minds right when everyone who should have been doing so didn't. I'm mostly talking about journalists who went along for the ride, but you could add singers and other artists who bought in to the war swindle.

To Dovetail: OK, when Natalie Maines said that Bush was a "dumb F**K", that didn't sound a little bit hateful? LOL, or was that supposed to be constructive criticism from one friend to another?
Yes, she never actually said she hated Bush or Toby Keith (afaik). But you could play that game both ways - after all the woman in the story didn't actually say she hated the Dixie Chicks either, she just said "screw the Chicks"...
As far as Mr. Keith goes, he claims the picture was supposed to be a protest against Maines "tyrannical" criticism of his music, since she said his music was "ignorant, and it makes country music sound ignorant." I don't really have an opinion here, but I'll admit to a certain bias; Mr. Keith constantly plays for US troops without receiving a cent in return such as here). The Dixie Chicks have never done so.
In any case, no matter who started what first it seems that Ms. Maines has expressed quite a bit of hatred herself. And that is the point here. If she can't take it then she shouldn't be dishing it out. In her arrogance, she seems to think it's justified when she does it, but not when us lowly commoners disagree.
As far as her being "right" about the war, that's another subject, but you can read my recent opinion here. If I were you, I wouldn't take my news on the War on Terror from the Dixie Chicks.
The Dipsy Shits are typical Leftist mouth-breathers: the only standard they adhere to is the double one.
Hypocrisy is stock-in-trade for such indoctrinated twits. Rather than repeat myself, see my last post about such hypocrisy on the muslim-perv-marries-little-girl thread.
The Dixie Chicks learned the F bomb from Dick Cheney. Now Dick really knows how to hate. Get over it.
They're not sluts, they're whores - bashing America in Euro markets is profitable.
BTW, why do liberal "artists" always have this need to proselytize? I'm paying to be entertained, not to have some ignorant bimbo preach her politics to me. Its no different than if Manes tried to convert everyone to Christianity at every concert.
Shut Up and Sing. Your vocal talent does not translate to foreign policy.
Another question: is their cause so weak that they must sell it with bare flesh?
OK, when Natalie Maines said that Bush was a "dumb F**K", that didn't sound a little bit hateful?
Sure made her sound like an idiot. Yes, Bush is a horrible public speaker. Maines thinks that means he's stupid, which says more about her intelligence than Bush's.
