I suppose I should be somewhat flattered, as it is a symbol of this website's growing popularity, but it is very annoying, nonetheless: I have been inundated with a flood of spam comments this week.
Deleting them one at a time is a rather painful process. For that reason, I turned on the word verification to defeat the autospammers. You want to spam, you will have to do it manually. You can still leave anonymous comments and don't have to register with this site or with google.
As always, if anyone has any suggestions on ways to improve this site, let me know. I normally do not update it on weekends, as I have a full life, and need to get away from the internet sometimes. So except for that, please let me know - you can leave a comment here or send to my email address.

This is why you should get with the program,. dump blogger.com and go to wordpress.com They have Askimet as a default. Askimet has so far sifted out more than 3,100 spams from my comments in- box. One or two slip by once in a while, but all you do is mark them as spam, and they never come back.
About growing popularity: remember that one million times zero is still... zero.
There's a lot of advantages to blogger. Since it's owned by google, I believe (although I can't prove it) that I do better in google search ratings than if I was with wordpress, typepad, or some other service.
I do know, that for some reason, I do better on google searches than with yahoo, aol, or other engines.
Also, blogger.com was great for me when I knew nothing about setting up a blog or html. The amount of widgets available for it is great too. Eventually, I may change but I don't think I will migrate to wordpress. By that time, I should be experienced enough to set up my own domain with proprietary software. But that's probably years off.
